Since it went into series production in 2018, there has been a buzz of anticipation about the all-electric Cross Turismo from Porsche. Originally one of the Mission E concepts, the Cross Turismo will now take its place among the Taycan family.

After being given the green light, the Taycan Cross Turismo has been put through its paces by being test driven in various climates and terrains, from freezing temperatures on the roads in Weissach to off-road ‘Safari’ tracks and even the Pyrenees.

Of course as its rite of passage as a sports car, it has also been tested on the Nürburgring Nordschleife and the Grand Prix track in Hockenheim. The newest addition to the Taycan range has completed 998,361 kilometres during testing which is enough to travel around the equator line 25 times.

Flexible and Versatile

The Taycan Cross Turismo mirrors the strengths of the all-electric Porsche range and has superior performance and long range. The Cross Turismo has more space with the adapted roofline and a larger load capacity, is all-wheel drive and has height-adjustable air suspension.

Stefan Weckbach, Vice President Model Line, said “With the Taycan Cross Turismo, we wanted to offer a little bit more space, a little more flexibility and versatility,” he says from behind the wheel. “We developed a completely new roofline, fitted with roof rails, a more generous second row and bigger trunk, all to make a car that is perfect for an active lifestyle. A car that is perfect for both an urban environment and the countryside.”

Digital World Premier

After being spotted in camouflage at various testing sites, the Taycan Cross Turismo was unveiled in a digital premier in early March. If you missed the live stream you can still watch it to see this exciting new addition to the Taycan model range in action.

The Taycan Cross Turismo test car arrived fresh from the beaten track for the premier still in camouflage before the new model was unveiled. The new Taycan Cross Turismo made its debut with an interview with Aksel Lund Svindal, a Porsche Brand Ambassador, who says the car impressed him in every way as “you can drive it like a true sports car.” Aksel also made note of the two new Porsche E-Bikes which will be unveiled soon and were mounted on a bike rack on one of the Cross Turismo’s.

Throughout the premier the newest member of the Porsche family is praised for its sportiness, strength, reliability and agility. Porsche showcased how this car is an all-rounder which can excel on sand, grass, gravel and asphalt in any condition such as rain, sun or snow. All weather, all altitudes, all purpose.
