Warm summer afternoons call for top-down thrills and that’s exactly what the new Porsche 911 Cabriolet is made for.
Ask any Porsche driver and they’ll testify to the beauty, precision, comfort and simplicity of a ride in a Porsche 911. How can Porsche improve on that? How about a convertible roof to give you all the benefits of the 911, but with the wind in your hair. Here’s what you need to know about the new Porsche 911 Cabriolet and how you can get one.
What’s the new Porsche 911 Cabriolet like?
If you’ve experienced the current Porsche 911 then you’ll know what to expect: a driver-focused cabin that’s intelligently laid out, with comfy body-embracing seats, a thrillingly low driving stance, and informative controls that hark back to Porsche classic of the 1970s.
What about the roof of the 911 Cabriolet?
Ready to feel the speed of the 911, outside and in? Drop the fabric roof to experience superb handling under the summer sun. The new 911 Cabriolet’s soft-top roof is fully automatic and includes an integrated rear glass window for total visibility when it’s up.
To prevent billowing at high speeds, the new 911 Cabriolet roof includes magnesium bows to increase strength, whilst extending wind deflectors prevent necks from feeling wind chill.
Can the roof recline at speed?
The new Porsche convertible uses a strong hydraulic system to allow roof reclining even if you’re travelling at 30mph. It folds down in just 12 seconds, faster than previous models.
How fast is the new Porsche 911 Cabriolet?
The Porsche 911 is known for its speed and capability, and the Cabriolet doesn’t disappoint. The new 911 convertible is available as a rear-drive Carrera S and all-wheel drive Carrera 4S.
An improved injection process means efficiency has been refined, while a redesigned air cooling system and turbocharger layout pair with a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission to send the 911 Cabriolet rocketing from 0-60mph in just 3.9 seconds.
Can I make it even faster?
Of course. The Porsche 911 Cabriolet is available in Sport Chrono packages on both the S and 4S models, shaving up to three seconds off the 0-60mph acceleration time and hitting 190mph at top speed.
