The Taycan Cross Turismo has now arrived at our Porsche Centres in Bristol, Newport, Swindon and Tewkesbury. The first all-electric Porsche model has expanded and now includes the Taycan, 4, 4S, Turbo, and Cross Turismo model lines.
If you haven’t seen the reviews, have missed the news and haven’t had a chance to see one in the flesh yet, you might still have some questions about the electric Porsche models. We have decided to cover some of the basics when it comes to all things electric Porsche.
Yes – the electric Porsche concept started out as “Mission E”, but they chose the name Taycan for their first all-electric Porsche.
You can watch a handy video from Porsche themselves here. The correct way is to say “Tie Can”, so ignore the first “a” in the title when you are talking about the Taycan.
Tesla ‘Superchargers’ are only for Telsa models currently, but you can charge your Type 2 electric car with a Tesla charger if you have an adapter.
The Taycan has 4 seats and there is plenty of room in the rear cabin. Especially if you opt for the latest in the model range, the Cross Turismo which has a higher roof for more cabin space and room for luggage in the boot.
The electric Porsche is built in the Zuffenhausen plant in Germany. The iconic 911 is also built here, so hopefully this will foreshadow the success and popularity of the Tacyan.
When looking at the quickest model lines, the Tesla Model S P100D can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds, and the Taycan Turbo S goes from 0-62 in 2.8 seconds. The interesting thing to know about the 0-62 speed is that the Taycan will consistently hit 2.8 seconds every time, even in quick succession, which is not the case for the Tesla. When looking at top speed, the Taycan Turbo S trumps the Tesla with 162 mph over Tesla’s 155 mph.
The base model, two-wheel drive, Taycan has the longest estimated range out of the Taycan model line with an estimated combined range of 220 - 268 miles. When fitted with a Performance Battery Plus, this estimate goes up to between 253 - 301 miles.
The Performance Battery Plus increases the power of the Taycan and also increases the amount of range the car can hold. On the entry-level Taycan, the battery is a single-deck with a gross capacity of 79.2 kWh as opposed to a two-deck in the Performance Battery Plus which has 93.4 kWh gross capacity.
The Taycan can be charged at any electric charger with a Type 2 port. We have partnered with Berwick Lodge, Whatley Manor and Homewood in Bath to provide Porsche electric chargers to these high-end hotels for Porsche owners to charge their cars while they visit.
We hope you have found this list of FAQ’s about the Taycan useful.
