Taking on the nick-name of a spacious 911 and the reputation of a sports car that can carry five people, the Cayenne has now been combined with E-Hybrid technology to add an element of electric soul to this class-leading SUV.
The E-Hybrid joined the Cayenne model line-up in 2018 as a step forward in Porsche’s e-mobility journey. With a newly designed drivetrain, the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid combines the electric motor with a three-litre V6 combustion engine. The E-Hybrids make use of the Tiptronic S gearbox, which was specifically developed for the Cayenne model range and enables significantly faster gear changes and a smoother more comfortable drive.
E-Hybrid Performance
The combined output of the electric motor and combustion engine in the Cayenne E-Hybrid is an incredible 462 PS. For Porsche owners who aren’t quite satisfied with this and the maximum torque of 450Nm, there is always the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid and Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupé. The name Turbo in this case refers to a bigger 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine which has the capacity to produce 550 PS, and when added with the electric motor output, the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid gives a combined output of an incredible 680 PS.
The Luxury SUV for Everyday Life
The Cayenne E-Hybrid is a Porsche that can do it all. Alongside the impressive power and speed statistics, the practicality and luxury of this Porsche means that it could be the perfect family car. With five seats which include split folding seats in the rear, this car is great for families and even has preparation for a tow bar system. The Cayenne can help you out with your caravan, horse box or even your trailer if you are taking things to the tip on a Sunday! The towing capacity is 3500kg via a trailer and 1400kg on the tow bar itself. Interestingly, the Porsche SUV set a Guinness World Record for pulling the heaviest aircraft by a production car.
Moving forward and staying connected
As well as space for your family, a picnic, the dog, and enough luggage for a week away, the Cayenne E-Hybrid has you covered for long journeys through the Porsche technology it comes with. The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) alone has online navigation, mobile phone preparation and audio interface for when you are on the go. Porsche have also considered a journey with teenagers and included Connect Plus with Apple® CarPlay, two USB charging ports in the front and rear, and automatic climate control with separate temperatures for driver and front passenger; perfect for when you are trying to keep everyone entertained and cool in your Porsche.
How to recognise the Cayenne E-Hybrid
One of the most distinguishable features of the Porsche Hybrid range are the Acid Green brake calipers; three of the four current E-Hybrid models have them. The Acid Green features also can be seen on the border of the model designation and the E-Hybrid logo on the front wings. Another key giveaway is the Type 2 charge port which sits on the opposite side to the fuel cap.
You can design your own Cayenne on the Porsche Configurator. If the Cayenne E-Hybrid has impressed you with its technology, power and practicality, the first full-electric Porsche could also be worth looking into. Discover more about the new all-electric Porsche Taycan.
