We are thrilled to announce that Dick Lovett will be launching Porsche Classic Life today at Bicester Heritage, the only standalone Official Classic Porsche facility in the UK.
Bicester Heritage has firmly established itself as a centre of excellence for motoring past, present and future, with a large number of specialist businesses serving owners and enthusiasts alike.
It’s a UK Centre of Excellence for Classic Automotive in its own right and is close to both the Silverstone Circuit and Porsche Experience Centre.
Porsche Classic Life by Dick Lovett perfectly fits the ethos of Bicester Heritage. Our unique facility will be a one-stop-shop for everything Porsche Classic; from buying and selling classic models, to parts, servicing and repairs.
Dick Lovett’s base for Porsche Classic Life is an original WW2 Fire Station on the site, which features an inspection ramp, a Classic Accessories area and office. There is even a private test track for customers to enjoy the full Classic Driving Experience.
Porsche Classic Life will be linked directly to Porsche Centre Swindon for all customer servicing and repairs.
“Porsche Classic Life will be the perfect place to meet customers with their cherished cars to discuss anything Porsche, perform vehicle inspections, plan servicing or any restorative work needed, and generally get a feel for how we are expanding our Classic operation.” said Stephen Brown, Classic Manager at Porsche Centre Swindon, who will also oversee the Bicester centre.
Porsche Classic Life officially launches at this weekend’s Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble and will also feature in many forthcoming events throughout the year.
Stephen, who himself owns a 1979 911 SC, will be making his mark as the new Porsche Classic Life Manager by taking part in Porsche Great Britain’s Classic Restoracing Competition on behalf of the centre. The event was created by Porsche to mark the 20th anniversary of its first-generation Boxster (the 986) that took the open-top sports car market by storm in 1996.
The 2018 competition will see Porsche Centres from across the country not only source and restore 986 Boxster S models, but also nominate a driver to compete in three-rounds of racing at iconic tracks, including Brands Hatch and Silverstone.
Cars will be judged on a wide range of criteria including mechanical renovation, body and paintwork and, of course, their performance on the race track. The model’s paintwork is a particular focus as each car must feature bespoke livery inspired by Porsche’s racing history – an exciting challenge to take on!
Porsche Classic Life’s 986 model has been transformed by Porsche Centre Cardiff and Porsche Centre Swindon from a zippy roadster to a demon race ready machine with added roll cage and Fletcher Aviation race livery. This eye-catching livery was used on Porsche’s hugely successful 1950s race car – the 550 Spyder (which is about as classic and iconic as a sports car can get).
Stephen already has some race experience, ranging from karts in his school years before he ultimately - and regretfully- chose A-Levels and university over racing single seaters.
But his passion for racing remained and in the late 90’s he was driving Clio Cups and Hillclimbing Caterham 7’s in the MSA National Championships.
In 2003, Stephen won UK Track Driver of the Year and was awarded the opportunity for an entry into the Formula Palmer Audi single seater championship, securing a best result of 6th at Donnington.
After a foray into Superbikes, Stephen took a break from competing but returned to hillclimbing Caterhams in 2017.
