A 4x4 with real prowess, both on and off-road, the Porsche Cayenne combines comfort, power and sporting ability like nothing else on the road today.
This is the ultimate SUV and then some. From the front end the bonnet sweeps up over your choice from a selection of Porsche designed wheels, including a 21-inch 911 Turbo set. These come with modified arches to give the vehicle real presence. Beyond the wheels the cabin opens up, with long sweeping lines that flow to the rear lights. Ride height reminds occupants that this car is fit both for the road and the country.
Inside things continue in refined yet sporty terms. Five comfortable seats await the driver and passengers, upholstered in fine leather. And space is expansive, even with a full car. Leg and headroom have both been considered with long journeys in mind. In the front the balance is between luxury and sport, with the Cayenne offering brilliant views of the road and body-hugging comfort from its highly functional seating. Storage space is well utilised, with cup-holders and pockets within reach of all passengers. In the driver's seat the wheel dominates and the emblematic Porsche badge sits proudly in its centre, flanked by multimedia controls.
The Cayenne is currently available in seven models, from the entry-level petrol Cayenne, through to the Turbo model. The popular Cayenne Diesel creates an impressive 262hp and a top speed of 137mph from its 3.0-litre turbo charged unit, while the Turbo achieves a staggering 520hp and 750Nm of torque. This power allows it to achieve 0-60mph in just under 4.5 seconds - speed worthy of a two-seater racecar, let alone a five-seater SUV.
With all that power, and potentially an entire family on board, Porsche takes safety very seriously indeed. The car is equipped with Porsche Stability Management, a system that stabilises the vehicle during potentially hazardous scenarios. The car also has a state-of-the-art ABS system, to further enhance control, and it has numerous airbags as standard should the worst occur.
