A true icon of the road, the first 911 rolled off the production line back in 1963. In the years since it has won rallies, road races and hearts all over the world. To this day its design remains unique, never to be confused with any other marque.
The new generation of 911s still carry themselves in much the same way as their many predecessors. The long sweeping bonnet gives way to the arc of the windscreen that, in turn, sweeps down to form the back of the car; a silhouette so iconic as to be recognisable to all. Porsche remains true to the 911 brand at both the front and rear of the car too, keeping the arches over the headlights and the grilles over the engine bay. Of course, all modern 911s also come with beautiful alloy wheels and the latest aerodynamic features to keep them firmly on the road.
A swathe of leather awaits inside each of the 911 models. As do body-hugging seats and an overwhelming sense of safety. The cockpit-style interior surrounds both driver and passenger, offering the perfect driving position and incredible comfort. And with its now all-but-trademark ascending centre console, everything is kept well within reach. Audio entertainment is provided by either Burmester or Bose, both of which provide incredible sound quality.
There is a Porsche 911 to suit all types of driver, each with a unique set of aerodynamics, drive-train and engine combination, in Coupé, Targa and Cabriolet bodystyles. The 911 Carrera opens the action with its 3.4-litre, six-cylinder, boxer engine, that generates a peak of 350hp and achieves 0-60mph in less than 4.8 seconds. At the peak of the range is the race-ready 911 GT3 which boasts a 0-60mph time of less than 3.5 seconds produced by its 3.8-litre 475hp engine.
Porsche's reputation was built on more than just speed, and today it is at the forefront of motoring safety. From end to end, the 911 is as safe as it can be, beginning with its bi-Xenon lights which forge the clearest of paths. All models are fitted with POSIP, Porsche's complete impact system, which includes side impact bars and a full complement of airbags. And with sporty disc-brakes on all wheels, stopping will never be an issue.
