Cycle The Sites for The Lovett Foundation

On Friday 21st October, Dick Lovett held their first group-wide charity event to raise money for its official charity, The Lovett Foundation.

All our Dick Lovett dealerships were sent a Watt Bike and were challenged to virtually cycle the 210 miles it would take to cycle around all of our 21 dealerships. The teams were asked to don their best fitness fancy dress to take part in the challenge and raise money for the charity.

The Lovett Foundation is a charitable cause which supports children in care and young adults leaving care across the South West and Wales, giving them assistance, life skills and experiences which will contribute to a brighter future. Read more about The Lovett Foundation and what we do here.

All of the teams at Dick Lovett put in a tremendous effort to raise awareness and donations for the charity on Friday, and we are pleased to announce that we have raised over £2,500 through our ‘Cycle the Sites’ event!

Cycle The Sites

As with any challenge, there was some friendly competition between the sites on Friday, both for the accolades of ‘Best Dressed Team’ and ‘Most Miles Cycled’. We are delighted to announce that the winners were as follows:

Most Miles Cycled goes to BMW Bristol, the team managed to pedal an incredible 228.41 miles in 10 hours! A truly impressive show of teamwork and organisation to ensure someone was peddling all day to get the gold!

Best Dressed Team goes to The Depot. The enthusiasm for the ‘Cycle the Sites’ challenge at The Depot was unmatched on the day. The whole team, which was made up of the Personnel, IT, Accounts and our Sustainability departments, put in a fantastic effort to come in their best fancy dress and even brought their dance moves and personalised soundtracks to cycle to! A special mention has to also go to the team at MINI Bristol, who were a very close second.

We would also like to say a massive well done to Kieron Saunders at the Bristol Bodyshop who cycled 47.6 miles - the most in the Group!

Richard Ward, James Stewart, Rose Smith, Jack Taylor and Ben Hacker also cycled over 19 miles each, which is a tremendous effort. Well done everyone!

We were incredibly proud to see how all of the teams got involved on the day and embraced the challenge to raise money for our charity. We would also like to give a big thank you to our on-site coordinators who have helped with bike logistics, decorating the sites and even doing bake sales to raise extra funds.

Rebecca Maloney, who sits on the Management Board at Dick Lovett and is Chair of the Lovett Foundation was delighted with how ‘Cycle the Sites’ went:

Thank you to all of our great teams at Dick Lovett for the hours of pedalling to raise much needed funds for The Lovett Foundation.  I have really enjoyed seeing all of the brilliant costumes and camaraderie around the Group.

The funds raised today will help to support Care Leavers in our local communities with life experiences and to gain the skills they will need to live independently.

Keep your eyes peeled for future events and ways that we will be helping to support children in and leaving foster care across the South West and Wales.
