Range Rover Sport Plug-in Electric Hybrid

The Range Rover Sport extended range plug-in electric hybrid has been hailed as the brand’s ‘most dynamic’ model, and there’s certainly a lot to admire here.

From its sporty, muscular exterior design to its luxurious interior features enhanced with innovative in-car technology systems, the Range Rover Sport plug-in electric hybrid delivers high-class on-road performance, combined with plug-in hybrid capability.

Key features include refreshed and redesigned front and rear bumpers, with wraparound LED lights and twin exhausts, which are integrated into the bodywork to accentuate the smooth appearance.

The interior is supremely comfortable and impressively functional, subtly illuminated by Ambient Interior Lighting. Infotainment and entertainment is managed by the Touch Pro Duo system, which connects to your smartphone and other devices to keep you on track in terms of navigation and in touch if anyone needs to reach you en route.

Optional rear seat entertainment adds two 8inch touchscreens, so passengers sitting in the back will rarely be bored on longer journeys.

Range Rover Sport Plug-in Electric Hybrid

The P400e 2.0-litre petrol engine available with the HSE Silver, HSE Dynamic, HSE Dynamic Black and Autobiography Dynamic variants, delivers 404hp and achieves acceleration of 0-60mph in just 5.9 seconds.

Maximum speed is a sharp 137mph and when you switch to all-electric driving mode, the range is 26 miles – suitable for shorter trips and local daily commutes.

As an alternative to plug-in hybrid models, petrol and diesel mild hybrid (MHEV) engines are also available within the Range Rover Sport range. MHEV engines work by harvesting energy saved during deceleration, saving it to the battery, and regenerating it when it’s time to accelerate again.

With this, performance is slightly different in comparison to a plug-in hybrid model. The D250 3.0-litre diesel engine achieves 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds, the D300 3.0-litre, 6.9 seconds, and the D350 3.0-litre, just 6.5 seconds while the P400 3.0-litre petrol engine version hits 0-60mph in 5.6 seconds, beating its diesel alternative.

Charging your Range Rover Sport plug-in electric hybrid is a simple process, with options to do so from home and from a multitude of public charging points.

Charging from home allows you to recharge your Range Rover Sport plug-in electric hybrid when you’re done for the day, and it’ll be ready to go when you next need it. Using AC charging from home, the Range Rover Sport can be fully charged, from 0 to 100%, in around two hours and 45 minutes.

If you don’t already have a home charging facility, you can get one installed. Wall boxes and home charging points can be fitted near your property – close to the driveway or incorporated into your garage is usually best – and you may be able to get a Government grant to help with the installation cost.

You can also charge from any public charging point. These are primarily located at fuel stations, motorway service stations, retail and public car parks. As electric and plug-in hybrid cars grow, more will be added in the coming years, making it even easier to charge on the go. Some public charging points also use rapid DC charging, which is faster.
