Sustainability

Dick Lovett’s Environmental Vision

At Dick Lovett, we recognise the need to protect our planet and create a sustainable future. We are therefore committed to minimising our environmental impact and actively engaging in responsible business practices.

In 2022, we created ‘The Sustainability Team’, tasked with generating the Group's environmental strategy, following environmental reporting standards, and implementing company-wide sustainability initiatives. In the same year, energy audits were carried out across all dealerships within Dick Lovett to highlight inefficiencies and generate tailored actions to lower emissions.

Through the education of our employees, commitment to change, and effective use of resources, we will continually improve our operations.

Our Objectives

Our objectives include the following:

  • We aim to reduce annual CO2 emissions to reduce environmental harm and improve overall sustainability
  • We commit to protecting the environment through considerate use of resources
  • We strive to prevent pollution throughout our activities and waste management
  • We aspire to provide continuous education to our employees and business partners, driving our environmental vision

Actions

We have incorporated a range of environmental initiatives across the Group to ensure we actively monitor and reduce our environmental impact. These include:

  • In 2022, we recruited a dedicated ‘Sustainability Team’ to develop our Group's environmental strategy. In addition to formulating the strategy, they also communicate and implement company-wide initiatives, ensuring our commitment to a sustainable future is integrated throughout the business.
  • In 2022, we conducted comprehensive energy audits at each dealership to identify inefficiencies and develop tailored action plans for emission reduction. In one case, adjustments to the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system reduced the monthly unoccupied electricity usage by 71%, reducing our emissions by 835 kgCO2e*.
  • Dick Lovett proudly maintains 100% REGO (Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin) certification across all active electricity metres. We utilise a diverse range of channels to access sustainable power, including harnessing energy from our solar technology as well as utilising REGO-backed national grid energy.
  • As of June 2023, we have successfully installed a total of 81 EV charge points across our dealership network. This includes 63 alternative current (AC) charge points and 18 direct current (DC) charge points. We continue to invest in charge points to support the growing demand for electric vehicles.
  • In the last quarter of 2022, we successfully installed a 140 Solar PV panel system on our recently established BMW and MINI Centre in Melksham. Furthermore in June 2023 we implemented a Solar PV panel system across our Ferrari Swindon dealership. These investments have significantly boosted our renewable generation capacity, contributing an additional 264 Megawatts per year to our clean energy output. We continue to invest in renewable energy and look to reduce our reliance on the national grid.

Future Road Map

We have developed a comprehensive road map to guide our future sustainability initiatives at Dick Lovett. Our road map focuses on key areas where we can make a significant impact:

  • Expansion of our renewable energy generation portfolio
  • Continued growth of our EV infrastructure network at our dealerships and service centres
  • We recognise the importance of responsible waste management and will actively promote and implement thorough recycling practices across all our dealerships and workshop spaces
  • Reduction of CO2 emissions by promoting best practices and implementing energy-saving ideas through employee engagement programs, training, and awareness campaigns
  • Further understanding of our environmental impact by undertaking Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Phase 3 reporting - we will gain a deeper understanding of our environmental impact and find further energy-saving opportunities through comprehensive energy audits and assessments

By pursuing these initiatives, we aim to strengthen our commitment to sustainability, advance our environmental goals, and make a positive impact on the communities we serve.
