What we expect from our team members
Working in a Bodyshop is a challenging and rewarding career that requires a variety of skills. The values we look for in our Bodyshop team members are:
There are a variety of different roles in our Bodyshops, working both front-of-house and behind the scenes. To apply to work at the Bodyshop as a Technician, you must have an NVQ Level 3 Qualification in a related field to the role you are applying for. We look for candidates who want to get things right for the customer the first time and can work well in a team.
We offer Apprenticeships in Paint Spraying, Panel Beating, and MET Repairs, which are a great way to start your career with the Bodyshop.
Apprenticeships last two years, in which you would work on-site at one of our Bodyshop facilities, and attend college on block release. At the end of your Apprenticeship, you will have an NVQ Level 3 Qualification in your chosen field.
MET (Mechanical Electrical Trim) repairs are essential to the Bodyshop process. This includes tasks such as repairing and replacing electrical components, such as headlights, and trim parts, such as mirrors and door handles. MET repairs require a strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems and the ability to work with delicate parts.
As a MET Technician, you should have an interest in technology, be meticulous with your attention to detail, and be good at problem solving. MET Technicians play a key part in ensuring cars are safe to be back on the road after an accident.
As a MET Technician, you will be responsible for:
Removal and refitting of vehicle components
Mechanical repairs
Wheel alignment
Panel beating is the process of repairing damaged metal body parts, such as fenders, doors, and quarter panels. This requires a high level of skill, as the metal must be reshaped to its original form, and then painted to match the rest of the vehicle. Panel beating often involves using hammers, dollies, and other specialised tools to manipulate the metal into the desired shape.
Panel Beaters have a passion for vehicles, and perseverance to restore the panels back to their original form. Panel Beaters play a critical role in getting vehicles back on the road looking as good as new!
Our Panel Beaters work alongside the MET Technicians and Paint Technicians to:
Dismantle and rebuild vehicles in preparation for other operations in the repair process
Carry out jig work and structural repairs
Identify any additional faults or damage
Paint spraying is one of the most visible aspects of Bodyshop work. The goal is to create a flawless, seamless finish that matches the original paint of the vehicle. This is done by sanding down the surface of the repair area, masking it off, and then using a spray gun to apply multiple thin coats of paint, allowing each one to dry before applying the next.
Our Paint Technicians are creative with an exceptional eye for detail. If you enjoy being artistic but like precision in your work, becoming a Paint Technician could be the perfect role to combine your skills.
As a Paint Technician, you will undertake all vehicle painting tasks such as:
Spraying of vehicles, both complete and panel work
Filler work
Masking, priming and topcoat
Lacquering, polishing, and finishing
In this customer-facing role, Advisors act as a liaison between the customer and our Bodyshop. They will communicate the nature of the repair required, providing cost estimates, and ensure that the customer is satisfied with the service provided.
If you like to help people and work as a team, then a career in the Bodyshop would be fulfilling for you.
In this role, you will assess technical or bodywork requirements on each vehicle and co-ordinate the team to ensure we are completing work to the agreed timescales. Part of this role also includes quality checking the work that has been carried out, to ensure customer satisfaction.
We look for candidates with technical experience and knowledge of how the Bodyshop runs for this role. This can be a great career move to build on your leadership skills after working in the workshop environment.
As a Workshop Controller, you will help to co-ordinate the workshop and ensure we are delivering fantastic customer service by planning the workload to maximise efficiency and adhere to deadlines.
The Workshop Controller will also take ownership of the workload and know what stage each vehicle is at any given time, to update the Advisors and plan for new work coming into the Bodyshop.
You will also comply with health and safety to ensure we keep our team safe and pass audits.
