General Sales Manager

Porsche Centre Tewkesbury

“Assume the role to become the role.”

Sales is all I’ve known since joining the motor trade 21 years ago, I love the fast-paced nature and emotion of sales.

I joined Dick Lovett as a Sales Executive when we opened Porsche Centre Tewkesbury 9 years ago and my whole career with Dick Lovett has been at Tewkesbury. I have held many positions within the sales department after being promoted from Sales Executive, to Retail Manager and now the General Sales Manager of one of the most successful Porsche sites in the network.

In my role, I manage 18 people and lead the sales department to deliver the best customer experiences, a performance based on multiple KPI’s and creating an environment for my team to excel.

I know I am biassed, but I have an awesome team! Due to my time in the business, I have employed everyone on my team personally and there is no one on my team who I wouldn’t employ again. Everyone has their own unique personalities, and everyone compliments each other, it’s very dynamic. I have quite a young team, we are very much a family, and everyone looks out for each other. I believe in having fun whilst at work, of course whilst remaining professional and doing your job but feel it’s important to have fun and enjoy coming to work.

Having previously worked for a PLC, Dick Lovett are noticeably run like a family business and that has always stayed true throughout my time with the company even with expansion of the Group. We are not just a number; we have a voice and its heard. You feel encouraged to share feedback and new ideas it’s taken on board. I feel valued, motivated, and appreciated every day.

There have been many highlights over my time here, but you cannot beat an event. Whether that be a customer event, or a dealer launch of a new model. I have been fortunate enough to have travelled to lots of different countries in my role and met some amazing people along the way. I also cannot not comment on the personal investment that Dick Lovett have made in me and my career. I was enroled on a cohort which supported with personal development, growth and enabled me to be the best version for my team, business, and our customers.

I have faced a lot of challenges since becoming a General Sales Manager, we have had Brexit, diesel gate, COVID, a war, you name it and I think we’ve been through it. However, as much as these are all challenges this is where personnel growth and new skill sets develop, it’s a complete learning curve and has certainly accelerated my leadership skills. I believe you should always try to find the positives in any situation. I am looking forward to continuing to expand and develop my team and Centre.
