Buying new car
Ms Clare Crossley
The BMW i7 is a remarkable car. This is the first all-electric model from the celebrated 7 Series range and it’s a spectacular sight as well as a stunning on-road performer.
This EV version of the 7 Series offers motorists the opportunity to experience the luxury saloon on pure electric power — and this is some car. From its illuminated BMW ‘Iconic Glow’ front kidney grille to the optional Theatre Screen in the rear passenger compartment, the BMW i7 is one of the most exciting new all-electric launches of its generation.
Released in the UK in 2023, the first selection of approved used BMW i7 models are now available. At Dick Lovett, we stock some of the very best. Visit any of four official BMW dealerships — find us in Bristol, Hungerford, Melksham (near Bath) and Swindon — to view all our used BMW i7 models for sale. You can arrange a test drive, and talk to our BMW experts about finance options.
The BMW 7 Series has set a high bar for sophistication and comfort from a saloon car — and now, the BMW i7 meets those same exacting standards in all-electric mode. A used BMW i7 is an electrified version of the 7 Series, delivering an impressive driving experience and with zero tailpipe emissions.
This is BMW’s fully electric saloon model, and it’s a car worthy of that milestone, making an impact right from its debut — the i7 was named Best Luxury Car and Best Interior at the 2023 What Car? Car of the Year Awards.
So, let’s start with that award-winning interior. Believe the hype; no brand does luxurious comfort quite like BMW. The i7 is spacious and supremely comfortable, qualities that will be enhanced further still if your used BMW i7 has been fitted with some of the optional packs.
Multifunctional rear seats, rear massage seats, front and rear heat comfort system, and executive lounge seating are all available as additional features. Vegan leatherette upholstery comes as standard, but used models may come with real leather seating as there’s a selection of different colours and designs on the options list.
There are integrated touch screens integrated into the rear doors to control a range of functions, including climate control and the position of the seats. Head and legroom is generous in the front and rear, and there are USB charging points in the back, too. The boot has a 500-litre capacity.
In the cabin, there’s a large curved digital display in the dashboard. With the inclusion of the optional Bower and Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system, and the show-stopping 31.3-inch BMW Theatre Screen — which comes as standard on Excellence Pro and M Sport Pro models — the interior is transformed into more of a home cinema than a car.
*Key features of a used BMW i7 could include:
Cutting-edge style aside, what about performance? A used BMW i7 is a genuine delight to drive – comfortable, quick, and responsive. Performance varies by model, but the first-launched xDrive60 has a top speed of 149mph, with 0-62 mph acceleration in just 4.7 seconds.
Adaptive air suspension comes as standard, ensuring a smooth drive whatever the road surface, while adaptive cruise control allows the driver to soar along with little manual effort. Because it’s an all-electric model, you drive in near-silence of course, but if you miss the roar of the engine, don’t fear. BMW has thought of everything. The IconicSounds system replicates the engine noise of whichever driving mode you’re in.
Driving range is between 367 and 388 miles (WLTP). The BMW i7 has the capability to power up again using DC charging, at a rate of 195kW — providing the potential to charge the battery to 80% in just 34 minutes.

Shopping for a used BMW i7? Great decision. This is an excellent luxury premium electric saloon, and a thrilling addition to an already impressive BMW model line-up.
As you discover the range of approved used BMW i7 models for sale at Dick Lovett, you’ll inevitably have a choice — and to understand the best option for you, it’s important to know the various different trims and variants available.
Our BMW experts based in our Bristol, Hungerford, Melksham (near Bath) and Swindon dealerships are happy to explain more and answer any questions you have about each and any model, but let’s run through a brief summary now.
The two main trim levels available are the Excellence, and the M Sport. What’s the difference? Well, if you favour comfort and luxury, the Excellence trim might be best for you. If you prefer your used BMW i7 to carry off a more sportier look, go for the M Sport, with its larger alloy wheels.
The Excellence is the i7’s standard spec, and is available with a choice of two engines. The eDrive50 (0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds, top speed 127 mph) or the xDrive60 (0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds, top speed 149 mph).
The M Sport has all the features of the Excellence, but adds those bigger alloy wheels, M Sport brakes, and an M-specific leather steering wheel, for a slightly higher starting price. There are three engines here; in addition to the eDrive50 and xDrive60, there’s also the eDrive50 Ultimate. While this isn’t a more powerful model than the standard eDrive50, it does have the optional Ultimate Pack, which retails from new at £31,050 (price correct at time of writing - March 2024) and pretty much adds every available extra.
Both the Excellence and the M Sport can also be upgraded to ‘Pro’ spec, so look out for Excellence Pro and M Sport Pro models. The Excellence Pro trim has 20-inch alloy wheels, auto front and rear doors, and Sky Lounge Panoramic Glass sunroof; M Sport Pro trim also has those same features, and adds Iconic Glow Crystal headlights and rear window electric blinds.
Top of a fantastic range though is the BMW i7 M70. This is the most powerful all-electric i7 in the line-up, capable of 659 hp, 0-60mph acceleration in a rapid 3.7 seconds, and a top speed of 155 mph. Battery range on a single charge reduces to 343 miles (WLTP), which is a little less than other trims – but you might consider that worth it for the extra oomph.
Please do ask our team about what optional packs may be fitted with each used BMW i7 model. While you can’t request these extra on used models like you can when you buy a new BMW, previous owners may already have one or more packs added. You may pay a bit more for a car with a higher spec level, but in return, you get a BMW i7 with more features, functions, and luxury touches.
