If you’re looking to purchase a used BMW 3 Series, you won’t be short of choice. The full range spans several different engines – including petrol, diesel and a petrol hybrid version – and multiple trim options.

The BMW 3 Series used range includes SE, SE Pro, Sport and Sport Pro trims, as well as M Sport, M Sport Plus Edition and the M Sport Pro Edition. M Sport also offers the Shadow Edition, which adds a ‘darkened backdrop’ to the exterior styling.

In terms of body styles, there are three models to consider. The used BMW 3 series includes the sleek, sports-inspired Saloon, and the bigger, more practical Touring, which is estate in design. It’s far from just a reliable performer though, with some engine variants capable of hitting 0-62mph in a rapid 4.4 seconds, and achieving a limited top speed of 155mph.

Can’t decide between the two? The third member of the used BMW 3 Series line-up offers an appealing combination of the Saloon and the Touring. The Gran Turismo has more legroom for rear passengers, and a spacious hatchback boot, and it remains a pleasure to drive. The BMW 3 Series GT is available in four trims – SE, Sport, Luxury and M Sport and was produced between 2013 to 2020.

The choice of engines in the BMW 3 Series range includes petrol options – 318i, 320i, 328i, and 335i – and diesel, with the 318d, 320d, 325d, 330d and 335d. M Performance options include the M340i xDrive and the M340d xDrive. The BMW 3 Series is also available as a hybrid model. The BMW 330e is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle with a petrol engine and an all-electric range of just under 40 miles.
