Fierce and powerful future classic
Menacing beauty and power. And then more power. This year’s hottest BMW has just sent temperatures soaring with the introduction of the BMW M2 CS which takes the already mighty stats for the smallest of BMW M models to a sizzling 0-62mph in just 4.0 seconds.
This is literally the fastest BMW M2 out there with extra carbon panels, thinner glass and stripped-back sports seats to shave a good 25kg off the weight just in case the 3.0 litres straight six engine’s 450bhp isn’t quite enough to put an almighty smile on your face. Permanently.
Distinctive features for a new icon of BMW
There’s a bigger kidney grill up front - finished in high-gloss Shadow Line black paint - and a new front skirt to increase air flow. There’s also side gills on the front wings and a redesigned quartet of tailpipes at the back.
Cooling is everything and as well as a central radiator, there’s a side radiator and an additional engine oil cooler. The exhaust system is finished in black chrome and two electronically-controlled flaps ensure the BMW M2 CS delivers that distinctive M sound - which can also be adjusted by flicking a switch on the centre console.
There’s a choice of six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed M Double Clutch transmission for even faster gear changes and no interruption of power. You can also choose whether to change gear automatically in automated mode or manually using either the gearshift lever on the console or on the shift paddles on the M leather steering wheel.
Find your own driving style
Driving programmes include Comfort, Sport and Sport+ while BMW has brought every bit of its long motorsport heritage to life in the BMW M2 CS. Sporting details include a high-performance chassis, Dynamic Stability Control for improved handling and M Sport brakes featuring larger pads and calipers.
The BMW M2 CS sits on 19” forged wheels with a Y-spoke design in a high-sheen finish, while inside there’s everything from Park Distance Control, BMW ConnectedDrive and a rear view camera.
