The car is powered by the petrol engine until the required battery charge level is reached and maintained. This can be useful if you want to reserve sufficient electric charge for certain sections of your journey or simply want to boost your charge status without stopping.
It is now easier than ever to charge your Plug In Hybrid or Electric Car at home thanks to the advancement of home charging, which makes this as simple as charging your phone. All BMW Plug-in Hybrid models are equipped with a standard charging cable that is compatible with any domestic 3-pin power outlet and have charging cycles between 5-10 hours (0-100%). Ideal for charging overnight and ready for your next journey. For even faster charge times, a home-charging wallbox can be installed and this can reduce your charge cycles to less than 4 hours.
When out in public, you can also take advantage of the ever growing network of public chargers. The BMW ChargeNow service, in partnership with BP Chargemaster, provides access to the largest network of charging stations in the UK, at over 7,000 locations nationwide.
