On Thursday 28th August, the BMW i Series went on tour to visit some of the iconic locations in Bristol and the South West, including the SS Great Britain, which provided the perfect backdrop for the innovative BMW i8 and i3.
A showcase for local talent and innovation, Bristol's Science Park proved to be a particularly apt beginning to the tour, where Bristol City Council's Sourcewest initiative gave us the opportunity to use the electric charging bay.
Sufficiently re-charged, the tour headed onto Bath's Royal Crescent, where fans of the BMW i Series gathered en masse to catch a glimpse of the i8 and i3. Parked against Bath's archaic Royal Crescent, spectators were given the chance to sit in and admire first-hand the BMW i8's beautifully streamlined silhouette.
As the tour progressed, the SS Great Britain provided the convoy of BMW i's with the penultimate stop of the drive. Set against the historic ship, the BMW i Series created a perfect contrast between Bristol's heritage and state-of-the-art innovation. Captivated spectators seized the chance to take pictures and tweet their excited thoughts of the scene.
As the sun set over Bristol, the BMW i Series tour 2014 concluded with a drive across the historic Clifton Suspension Bridge. With the i8 leading the way, a convoy of BMWs from the i Series, created a mesmerizing spectacle. The tour was a fantastic success and provided the perfect opportunity to showcase BMW's eagerly-anticipated i Series, whilst leaving enthralled spectators in the South West excited about the future of low-emission vehicles. Jess said: 'Both the i8 and i3 crush impressions of electric cars being sluggish. The combination of efficiency and incredibly powerful dynamics, left me totally in awe of the i Series.'
