The First BMW M standalone model since the BMW M1

The BMW XM is the first of its kind and the ultimate BMW X Series M model. Stunning performance meets exquisite interior design in this unique new addition to the BMW M lineup. The XM is the first plug-in hybrid BMW M car which combines a newly developed V8 M TwinPower Turbo engine with BMW’s 5th generation battery technology.

Let’s get started with the figures. Both power sources work together to deliver a combined 653 hp and 800 Nm propelling the XM from 0-62mph in 4.3s. Thanks to M xDrive with an M Sport Differential, power delivery is as smooth as ever and truly inspires confidence in all driving conditions. The familiar yet forever impressive 8-speed M Steptronic transmission returns on the BMW XM - offering a wide range of options from smooth automatic gear changes to punchy manual shifts using the paddles.

The BMW XM is the first standalone M model since the release of the M1 back in 1978. The XM certainly doesn’t forget that, as it’s one of the most unique BMW M cars ever released. From the exterior design to its power plant, the XM truly does things differently.

The versatility of the XM is increased significantly by the addition of an electric motor. This enables the vehicle to drive in an electric only mode with a range of over 50 miles*. So when you’re making short journeys, the XM can actually be very economical.

It’s not only the stunning performance that makes the XM special. The spacious interior is filled with technology and comfort features. The wonderful driver display and touchscreen is equipped with BMW’s latest infotainment system - iDrive 8. From here you can operate many of the vehicle’s on board features, from massage seats to customising your driving modes.

There are a range of interior design options available from which you can select different leather and alcantara colours. These look incredible combined with the carbon fibre interior trim that we’ve come to know and love on modern M cars.

That’s not all, the BMW XM introduces unique new features including the illuminated headliner and M Lounge:

Illuminated Headliner - The indirectly illuminated headliner impresses with a three-dimensional prism structure. Distinctive Ambient light provides a splendid presentation of the various lighting designs such as the welcome scenario. The colour selection can be adapted to individual needs to match driving mode and atmosphere.

M Lounge - A generous feeling of space, high-quality materials and extravagant design transform the rear of the BMW XM into an exclusive M Lounge. The one-piece seating area and details such as the diamond-shaped structures in the headrests and stitching pattern convey comfort and luxury. Together with the sculptural, indirectly illuminated headliner, dark windows and comfort cushions, they create a novel feeling of space.

Adaptive M Suspension Professional

This suspension system is designed to deliver maximum performance, stability and comfort to all passengers aboard the BMW XM. Electronically controlled shock absorbers, active stabilisers and Integral Active Steering (rear wheel steering) work effectively to achieve this.

Active roll stabilisation with active rolling comfort counteracts side-to-side movements of the body – when cornering or driving over potholes and other obstacles. Integral Active Steering also supports more dynamic and safer driving dynamics. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn parallel to the front wheels to stabilise the vehicle. In the lower speed range, the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction, making your vehicle more agile.

With M Setup, you can adjust your suspension settings as well as the drive, steering, brake, energy recovery and all-wheel drive system M xDrive. Preset configurations can then be accessed easily using the M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel. This is designed to enable maximum customisation, where you can adapt the vehicle’s characteristics to suit your driving style or certain driving conditions.
