All The Car You’ll Ever Need

The BMW M340i and M340d Touring models are simply brilliant. Incredible performance, while maintaining the fantastic practicality of the 3 Series Touring, they’re certainly two of the most capable vehicles available today.

The biggest decision you’ll have to make is whether the petrol M340i or diesel M340d is a better option for you. Both share powerful 6-cylinder turbocharged engines that are assisted by mild-hybrid technology. The petrol B58 engine produces 374 bhp and 500 Nm, while the diesel B57 offers less horsepower at 340 bhp but more torque at 700 Nm. Both are very quick, 0-62 mph being achieved in 4.6 seconds in the M340i and 4.7 seconds in the M340d.

That’s not all, the cars’ rolling pace is also brilliant thanks to their 3.0-litre engines and 8-speed ZF automatic gearboxes. The M340i is the pick if you want the superior performance, but if you still want great performance with more favourable fuel consumption figures, then the M340d is the suitable choice. BMW M340i Touring pricing starts at £60,605, compared to the M340d, which begins at £60,245.

The presence of xDrive all-wheel drive, as standard, ensures that the M340i and M340d Touring can perform exceptionally in all conditions. This will not only inspire confidence while driving, but also help you extract maximum performance whenever you require it. The rear-wheel drive biassed xDrive system maintains much of the fun and feel of a purely rear-wheel drive BMW while improving overall traction and launch capabilities - perfect for a practical Touring.

As well as improved luggage capacity over its Saloon sibling, the Touring’s rear window can be opened independently from the tailgate. This handy feature adds another dimension of practicality, where you can quickly place smaller items into the rear of the vehicle without fully opening the tailgate.

A recent Life Cycle Impulse (facelift) has introduced new features and design elements to the 3 Series line-up, including the M340i and M340d. Most notably, the front and rear design has been updated with a clean and modern look. The same can be said about the interior, which now includes a new flat bottomed steering wheel along with the BMW curved glass display. This features the BMW iDrive 8.5 operating system, which brings improved capabilities and customisation.

In addition to the large array of standard equipment, optional packages can be specified to make the M340i and M340d Touring an even better daily driver. The Comfort Plus Package adds extended storage contents, Comfort Access, electric seats with driver memory, a heated steering wheel and more. Meanwhile, the Technology Plus Pack includes Parking Assistant Plus, Driving Assistant Pro, and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound audio system, among other great features. Features can alternatively be added individually or base versions of the mentioned packages can be selected - which include less contents. Customisation is fantastic on these two models, where you can make an amazing all-round package even better.

M Adaptive Suspension

The Driving Experience Control buttons enable control over the M Adaptive Suspension, which provides a suspension set-up that balances comfort with sportiness. The suspension also features adaptive damper control, which can lower the vehicle by up to 10mm, and automatic ride-height adjustment that adjusts according to the load on the vehicle.

Furthermore, the models come standard with stiffer bearings, a higher camber angle, and body struts that increase rigidity.

M Sport Differential

The M340i and M340d have also been upgraded with the M Sport Differential, which greatly enhances their performance. This differential improves traction, agility, stability, and overall driving behaviour, depending on the current driving situation and road surface conditions.

Together with the M Adaptive Suspension and customisable driving modes, these enhancements ensure that both models are versatile and capable of adapting to various driving styles.
