The 220i is the entry level choice with 184 bhp from its 2.0 litre petrol engine. Despite offering a very respectable 42.8 - 44.1 combined mpg, this is trumped by the 220d which is capable of 58.9 - 60.1 mpg while also producing 190 bhp from its 2.0 litre diesel engine.

Both are great picks for those looking for a perfect balance between fun and efficiency. The 230i variant utilises the same engine as the 220i but produces 245 bhp while maintaining similar mpg figures. This is a great option that fits nicely between the performance focused M240i and more versatile 220i and 220d.

The M240i xDrive and M2 are the performance variants of the 2 Series Coupé, with the M2 being the most hardcore - 460 bhp and 550 Nm of torque through the rear wheels only. With the option of a manual transmission as well, the M2 is a purist’s dream and the top choice if you want ultimate fun and performance.

The M240i xDrive is also incredibly quick, with 374 bhp and 500 Nm, it excels in all conditions. Whilst not as powerful as the M2, its xDrive all-wheel drive capabilities and improved fuel economy make it a more versatile performance car for daily use.
