The new M 1000 RR uses a water-cooled four-cylinder in-line engine based on the S 1000 RR with BMW ShiftCam technology.

However, it features extensive technical refinements over the S 1000 RR; such as new 2-ring forged pistons from Mahle, adapted combustion chambers, longer and lighter titanium connecting rods from Pankl, slimmer and lighter rocker arms, fully machined intake ports with new duct geometry as well as an optimised intake area. It also features a lightweight titanium exhaust system as standard.

To keep all that power in check, there’s M brakes for the first time on a BMW motorcycle as well as M carbon wheels fitted as standard.

M 1000 RR - Aerodynamics

One of the most striking features of the new M 1000 RR are the carbon fibre winglets.

Combined, they generate 16.3kg of downforce at race speeds, and joined with the high windscreen, these push the bike into the ground allowing faster cornering speeds.

For those wanting to further their experience out on track, there is the optional M Competition package. This package features M GPS laptrigger, M carbon package and the passenger package that includes a tail-hump cover.

One of the key features included within the M Competition package is the M Billet Pack that features a 220g lighter swinging arm made from anodised aluminium, milled M front brake guard, front and rear sets and engine covers.
