Performance meets long-distance capability: The M 1000 XR is the lightest and most powerful production sport-touring bike in the world.

The M 1000 XR is the third M model from BMW Motorrad and is based on the current S 1000 XR and S 1000 RR. The M 1000 XR is M through and through. It’s comprehensively equipped with M components and new M winglets that provide increased contact pressure on the road through aerodynamic downforce.

The new M 1000 XR features a modified water-cooled 4-cylinder in-line engine based on the S 1000 RR. Its peak power is 201 hp at 12,750 rpm, 31 hp more than the new S 1000 XR. Maximum torque of 113 Nm is reached at 11,000 rpm and the rev limiter is 14,600 rpm.

To maximise pulling power in all gears the M 1000 XR gets a 47-tooth rear sprocket compared to 45 on the S 1000 XR, as well as short ratios on gears 4, 5, and 6.

Following on from the M 1000 RR and the M 1000 R, the new M 1000 XR is the third BMW motorcycle to feature a bespoke M brake. It was developed directly using the experience gained with the racing brakes on BMW Motorrad factory racing machines in the Superbike World Championship. The M brake callipers feature a blue anodised coating in conjunction with the famous M logo.

The new M 1000 XR is equipped with lightweight forged aluminium wheels as standard, but M Carbon wheels are available as part of the M Competition package.

M Winglets and Wind Deflectors

M Winglets and Wind Deflectors tame the brute power of the M 1000 XR. Featured on the front fairing, each generate downforce at high speeds providing greater riding stability, a lower tendency to do wheelies, as well as a smoother ride.

From a speed of about 62 mph, they start to provide an increase in front wheel load with a maximum load of approx. 12 kg at 137 mph.

M 1000 XR with M Competition Package

For those looking for even more exhilaration, the M Competition Package offers an additional mix of refined race derived components. In addition, the M Competition Package makes the new M 1000 XR another 3 kg lighter.

The M Competition Package includes M Carbon wheels, M Carbon parts such as rear wheel cover with integrated chain guard, side panels, front wheel cover, inner cover and ignition/steering lock cover, as well as a fully adjustable M rider footrest system.
