BMW Motorrad R 1300 GS

At the heart of the R 1300 GS is a new two-cylinder boxer engine.

Its new design is more compact than ever before thanks to a gearbox located under the engine and a new camshaft drive arrangement. From 1300 cc, the new engine produces 145 hp at 7,750 rpm and develops a maximum torque figure of 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This makes it by far the most powerful boxer engine ever to be produced by BMW Motorrad.

The new EVO Telelever front suspension with flex element and the revised EVO Paralever rear end provide even greater steering precision and ride stability.

The almost completely new design for the new R 1300 GS has resulted in an impressive weight saving of 12kg compared to the previous model. Its bodywork and frame design are like no other GS that’s gone before, with a less bulky, sportier feel.

Adaptive Ride Height Control

Adaptive vehicle height control and sports suspension are available on top of the DSA option on the new BMW R 1300 GS. The BMW adaptive ride height control system can automatically reduce the seat height by 30mm (dropping it from 850mm to 820mm) at slow speeds.

The sport suspension option offers 20mm more spring travel at the front and rear, perfect for regular off-road riders. Other options designed for more off-road riding include; Forged Enduro Wheels, High Handle Bars, Headlight Pro, and High Seat option.

More than ever as standard

The new R 1300 GS comes as standard with more features than any other GS in history. Even in standard trim, the new R 1300 GS now has four rather than three riding modes. The ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’ riding modes cover most typical road conditions. With the “Eco” riding mode optimised to achieve the maximum range on a single tank of fuel, while the additional riding mode ‘Enduro’ enables an enhanced riding experience off the beaten track with a specific set-up for off-road use.

The BMW R 1300 GS includes several notable features as standard on all models. Such as BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, a cutting-edge matrix LED headlamp, Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) with brake function, a handy smartphone charging compartment equipped with an integrated USB socket, Keyless Ride for convenience, and standard heated grips for added comfort.
