The Volante convertible followed in 2017 as well as a more potent AMR model in 2018. Aston Martin’s DB11 was introduced to the world at the Geneva Motor Show as a replacement to the DB9, and has retained the attention of a global audience since.

As the first car in Aston Martin’s ‘second century plan,’ the DB11 marked a whole new chapter for the marque complete with an all-aluminium body construction and TwinTurbo engine options, capable of delivering the 0-62mph sprint in under four seconds - the V12 just a tenth of a second faster than the V8 alternative.

Settle behind the wheel, ignite the engine – V8 or V12 – and discover a car that’s not just style over substance. This car can roar, with punchy, responsive and smooth acceleration; the latest V12 model delivers 630bhp and top speeds of 208mph.

Even with the roof down, the Volante’s performance stands up well in comparison, delivering 528bhp and a top speed of 192mph, the same as the two-door, two-seater V8 coupé.

As the original launch model, the coupé is suave, sophisticated and boasts premium qualities. If it’s an open-top experience you want, however, the Volante offers convertible charm. The hood takes just 14 seconds to open and 16 seconds to close and can be operated remotely from the key or on the move up to speeds of 31mph, so you won’t get caught out if the weather turns. The new hood system also allows for a boot that’s 20 per cent bigger than its predecessor, the DB9 Volante.

There’s no doubting the quality of the interior, with luxurious touches wherever you look. Open pore woods or piano black finishes add a sense of opulence and quality. Seat embroidery, leather detailing, heated seats and more create an interior that’s worthy of the Aston Martin label.Cutting-edge infotainment is also a highlight. The satellite-navigation map is displayed on a stylish tablet-style screen on top of the dash, with the clunkier DB9 units being a thing of the past. Select models also offer a Bang & Olufsen sound system which is guaranteed to brighten up any journey.

Unlike some marques and model ranges, there aren’t many trims to mull over with the DB11. The three main choices you have are the V8 or V12 Coupé, or the convertible Volante which comes with a V8 powertrain. There’s hardly any difference between the two in terms of power – both are epically fast and responsive – so the most important thing to think about is whether you want a soft-top or not.

It’s also worth noting that the Volante weighs 110kg more than the DB11 V8 Coupé, making it exactly the same weight as the V12 Coupé.

When navigating the used Aston Martin DB11 market, it’s worth keeping in mind that all models were launched with a set of features as standard. Every Aston Martin DB11 Volante is equipped with the standard, high-end Alpine audio system. Buyers may have swapped this for the premium Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 13-speaker system, however, meaning you might benefit from extras added by previous owners.
