COMPLETE SATISFACTION, IN AN ICONIC ASTON
Money can’t buy you happiness, or so the saying goes. Clearly, whoever coined the phrase had never owned an Aston Martin Vantage. If they had, they’d have realised how very wrong they were.
The all new Aston Martin V8 Vantage is available now from Aston Martin Bristol. It’s a true driver’s car - light, agile and, above all, stunningly beautiful.
It’s more aggressive than the old Vantage and the eight-speed gearbox sprints this stunning beast from 0-60 in just 3.6 seconds - accompanied by the distinctive bark of the Aston Martin V8 engine.
But if money can buy you happiness, should you be spending upwards of £120,900 on an Aston Martin Vantage when competitors would believe you’d be far more delighted in one of their models?
THE POWER AND PERFORMANCE MATCHES THE PRICE
For £128,692 you might be tempted by a Porsche 911 Turbo. It’s supremely fast with 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds but the Vantage really isn’t that far behind and could you really live with the 911 Turbo everyday? The Aston Martin Vantage has more boot space and while the cheaper Porsche 911 Carrera GTS may undercut the Vantage by a good £15,000, the Aston Martin Vantage has around 50bhp more to its name.
Then there’s the Audi R8. For around £123,330 you can get a V10 quattro which literally howls. It’s a boisterous car, but the ride is bumpy and the chassis isn’t anywhere near as refined as that of the Aston Martin Vantage.
How about a Mercedes AMG GT S? Like the Aston Martin Vantage, it’s got a 4.0 litres V8 but it’s super sensitive handling won’t be for everyone. It’s also got a bulky, rounded front end which doesn’t come close to the Aston Martin Vantage’s sculpted sleek lines.
Perhaps the closest competitor in the looks department is the Jaguar F-Type SVR. Again there’s a snarling V8 engine and for £110,800 you get 568bhp, compared to the entry level Vantage’s 503bhp. But while the Jaguar F-Type SVR is a stunning car, for that little bit extra you could have a set of iconic wings on your bonnet and an Aston Martin bark under it.
Not only can money buy you happiness, but it can also buy you exclusivity and one of the most sought-after badges out there today. Aston Martin has a proud sporting history and who wouldn’t want to be seen behind the wheel of the incredible Aston Martin Vantage?
