Get excited. Get very excited. Aston Martin has globally unveiled the highly desirable new 2021 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster.
As you’d expect from the design maestros at Aston Martin, this is an absolutely stunning sports car. The Roadster has the same wide, road-hugging profile as the Vantage Coupé. And the same aluminium-intensive structure, slender rear light bar, ducktail spoiler, arresting front splitter and rear diffuser.
The stylistic change comes in the form of the electrically retractable canvas soft top, to let you feel the wind in your hair and experience driving in its rawest, most authentic form. It takes just 6.7 seconds to put the roof flat, and 6.8 seconds to raise it back up again, all at speeds of up to 31 mph, making it the fastest convertible roof in the world. Speaking of speed, the Vantage Roadster can hit an impressive 190 mph.
The new Vantage Roadster features the same 503bhp twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine as the Coupé, which can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds.
Although there will inevitably be a slight sacrifice in performance resulting from the extra weight of the folding roof and structural bracing, speed isn’t everything and it’s a small price to pay for the unadulterated thrill of open-air motoring in such a beautiful example of Aston Martin engineering.
Visually you will notice that Aston has brought back the 'vane' grille to celebrate 70 years of the Vantage nameplate. A slightly softer, more sculptured grille inspired by the DB10. Introduced for Vantage Roadster this will also become an option for the Coupé. However you can still spec the Roadster with the 'Hunter' style grille if that's what you prefer.
The Aston Martin Vantage Roadster will be easy on the ear as well as the eye, thanks to the silky-toned AMG engine. And we expect it to have a starting price of around £126,950.
