Dick Lovett are delighted to present an exceptional example of a rare UK registered Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren. SLR stands for ‘Sport Leicht Rennsport’ (Sport Light Racing) The Car has covered 18,114 miles and is beautifully presented in ‘Crystal Laurite Silver’ and an eye catching ‘300 SL Red’ leather interior.
MPG figures are obtained from laboratory testing and intended for comparisons between vehicles. They are unlikely to represent real world efficiency.
Inspired by the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, a modified race car and the design of closed-wheel formula one cars, Mercedes announced the SLR to the world as ‘Tomorrows Silver Arrow’ which is a clear reference to the highly successful Mercedes racing era of the 1950’s. They then joined with their Formula One partner at the time, McLaren to help bring the car to reality. This resulted in the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren being brought to production. Production would run between November 2005 and 2009 when the last SLR’s rolled off the production line. The SLR has since been replaced by the Mercedes-Benz SLS.
The SLR was built in joint collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren. During this time Mercedes-Benz owned 40% of the McLaren group. The engine behind powering this incredible car is a hand built 5.4 litre Supercharged V8. This engine provides the SLR with the performance to reach 60 mph from a standing start in under 3.5 seconds.
