Already Registered With Motability?

As you reach the end of your current contract, you may be thinking of getting your next Motability car. At Dick Lovett MINI we can assist you with this and we even have some MINIs with no Advance Payment.

Motability leases generally run for three years from the date that you took delivery of your car. This date will be shown on your contract. Three months before the end of your contract, you will receive a letter from Motability to remind you that it is time to choose a new car on the Scheme.

When ordering your new MINI, take these with you:

  1. Your driving licence if you wish to drive
  2. Certificate of entitlement from either DWP or SPVA
  3. Proof of address (e.g. recent utility bill)
  4. Named drivers’ driving licence and consent. Named drivers must give consent, either in person by going with you when you place your order or by filling out a Driver Consent Form.

As part of the ordering process, you and your drivers will need to sign a Statement of Responsibilities to confirm you understand and agree to abide by the scheme guidelines.

Don't forget to tell us if you have a personalised number plate and wish to transfer it onto your new car.

Your worry-free Motability package includes replacement tyres

Tyres worn or damaged through normal use will be replaced for no extra cost as part of your lease. Tyre replacement is subject to a ‘fair usage’ policy.

The following are also covered at no extra charge:

  • puncture repairs
  • wheel balance
  • replacement of stolen or vandalised tyres

What is normal wear and tear?

We would expect that three years of motoring would result in some light scuffing, scratching or stone chipping to your car, particularly on the bodywork, wheels, interior trim and luggage areas.

Damage caused by wheelchairs, callipers, crutches or walking sticks would also be classed as fair wear and tear and we would not expect it to be repaired.

More serious damage, however, would not meet our standards. This includes:

  • deep dents and scratches on bodywork that go through to the metal
  • severe cracks on bumpers and mirror housings,
  • irreparable damage such as burns or tears to the interior, and
  • heavy gouges to alloy wheels or plastic trim

What’s included in your service

For all car servicing and maintenance, you should take your car to the dealer that has been assigned as your managing dealer.

Services will usually include the following checks:

  • Engine oil
  • Windscreen washer fluid
  • Engine cooling system
  • Lights
  • Tyre tread
  • Tyre pressure - including the spare tyre

The service for each type of car will be different. Other checks for brake pads or filters, for example, will be looked at if it is recommended by the manufacturer.

Waiting for your car

The length of a service can vary so you may need to organise transport home. If you’ve given our Centre's three weeks’ notice from when you booked a service or repair, we will issue you with a standard courtesy car. If the courtesy car is not suitable for your needs we will try to make other arrangements.

Keep a record

Please make sure that your Centre completes and stamps your car’s service book after every service. Keep this safe and in good condition as it may be needed in future to prove the car has had regular servicing....

ll Motability cars come with at least a three-year warranty so any repair caused by general wear or mechanical fault is covered, except if there is evidence of neglect or misuse. If you are out and about and concerned that your car is unsafe, please contact Motability RAC Assist.

Recurring problems

If the mechanical problem returns and your converter or dealer has not been able to help, please contact the Motability Customer Services team on 0300 456 4566 . We will always try our best to help you find a solution.
