Dick Lovett started the business in 1959 in Swindon, Wiltshire selling motorbikes and employing less than 5 people. Dick, supported by his wife Stella, had a passion for “specialist” sports cars, which he would buy and sell to other enthusiasts.

They lived above their business and would be on hand to cater for enquiries from all over the British Isles.

Their passion for Porsche, Maserati, Lamborghini, and Ferrari was also shared by their son Peter, who joined the family business after he left school.

Motorsport

As Peter became more involved in the commercial side of the business he became an active participant in motorsport. He raced BMW’s in the “County Championship” representing Wiltshire and raced at Le Mans five times in the 1970’s and 80’s. This taught Peter the importance of teamwork and focus on improved performance.

Business Development

This focus had seen the business expand under Peter’s Chairmanship during the last 30 years to represent the very best motor brands with some of the best dealership sites in the country.

Key to the business’s success is the continued drive for customer satisfaction through the team which now number over 400 people in Bristol, Swindon, Hungerford and Cardiff.

“Investment in our people to provide first class service is my number one priority” says Peter.

He firmly believes that the experience of buying a “Dick Lovett car” will be a unique and pleasurable one, backed up by a first class after sales operation to provide a personal service to all our customers.
