The legendary Silverstone Circuit in Northampton played host to the recent first European Ferrari Racing Days and the fifth round of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli. The crowds began rolling in from early in the morning to soak up the Ferrari atmosphere and to watch a busy programme of track action: Ferrari FXX & 599XX supercar demonstrations, F1 Clienti programmes and the Ferrari Challenge races.
This Ferrari 275 GTS Roadster, kindly loaned by Dick Lovett Ferrari took pride of place inside the Silverstone Wing complex.
Saturday saw an amazing parade of Ferraris, lead by Scuderia Ferrari test driver Marc Gene, closely followed by Mathew Beard (Dealer Principal, Dick Lovett Sporting Ltd) and Louis Scott (Marketing Manager, Dick Lovett Sporting Ltd) behind the wheel of the magnificent LaFerrari. The event continued on the Sunday with Marc Gene completing some laps at the wheel of the Enzo, which drew a great response from the crowd.
964 Ferraris took part in Saturday's parade, a new Guinness World Record.
Ferrari Racing Days is not all about thrilling Ferrari Challenge races and high-speed supercar demonstrations; a big part of the event incorporates the Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity, a charity that exists to grant the wishes of children who are living with serious or life-threatening illnesses between the ages of 3-18 who live in the United Kingdom.
During the event members of the Dick Lovett Ferrari team met brother and sister Matthew and Emma, who wished to be driven in a Ferrari. An amazing experience that promises never to be forgotten and one all at Dick Lovett were honored to be involved with.
The key event on the programme was the European Ferrari Challenge, which produced some outstanding racing.
In the Trofeo Pirelli Pro category, Englishman Alexander Martin, driving for Motor Piacenza won the second race of the weekend, ahead of Italy's Dario Caso, flying the flag for Rossocorsa-Pelling Racing and the young Italian Daniele Di Amato for Motor Piacenza.
In the Am category, there was an amazing win for Englishman Sam Smeeth (Stratstone Ferrari) with an overall win in his home race. Second was Giacomo Stratta (Forza Service), with Belgian's Florian Mercky third for Kessel Racing.
As for the Coppa Shell, there was a fantastic double for Max Bianchi (Kessel Racing) who completed a perfect weekend, as he also set the fastest race lap in 2.10.102. Runner up was the Dutchman Fons Scheltema (Kessel Racing) and on the third step of the podium came Belgium's Jacques Duyver (Motor Piacenza).
