MINI is proud to be associated with Motability, a national UK registered charity dedicated to helping disabled people and war pensioners become mobile through the Motability Car Scheme.

As a Premier Partner of Motability, at Dick Lovett Bristol we have Motability trained specialists who will help to guide you through the process of choosing your MINI and answer any questions you may have. Our Motability Specialists will take care of all the paperwork for you and arrange the delivery of your new car.

Eligibility
If you receive the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS), you can use that allowance to cover the monthly rentals of a MINI model of your choice over the next 3 years, with no additional costs. All you have to do is make an advance payment, which varies depending on the model.  Children from five years old and non-drivers can also apply for cars as passengers, provided they receive the correct allowance.

If you choose to lease a car through Motability's Contract Hire scheme you must have at least 12 months' award length remaining. If you would prefer to buy a car using a Hire Purchase agreement, you will need to be receiving the allowance for the full length of your agreement.

Drivers
If you choose a lease agreement you do not need to drive. You can nominate up to two drivers who may be friends or relatives, and parents or carers can apply on behalf of a child aged three years and upwards.

However, proposed drivers must not have any serious driving convictions, disqualifications, or endorsements within the last five years and there are also some restrictions on drivers under 25 and those with provisional licences.

What does it cost?
Your MINI can be supplied on contract hire or hire purchase and some of the cars on the scheme can be paid for entirely with the Allowance, while others require a cash deposit at the start of the agreement.

Contract Hire Scheme
Contract Hire is a straightforward option offering stress-free motoring and the convenience of a single, regular payment. By simply transferring your allowance to us, you receive a brand new car every 3 years including insurance, road tax, servicing, maintenance, accident and breakdown cover and more.  Some adaptations may be included at no extra cost.

If the cost of the car you have chosen is higher than your full allowance can cover, you simply pay the difference as an advance payment at the start of the agreement.

Hire Purchase Scheme
If you would prefer to buy your own car you may be interested in the Motability Hire Purchase Scheme.  Hire Purchase is particularly suitable if you want to own a car and use your mobility allowance to pay for it, you require costly adaptations and you plan to cover high mileage in your car.  You will be responsible for arranging and paying for comprehensive insurance, breakdown recovery, annual tax disc, servicing and repairs, MOT if the car is older than 3 years and replacement tyres.

Please note: Only the cash price of the car and the warranty may be financed with the Motability Hire Purchase Scheme. If you choose to buy a car with a Hire Purchase agreement, you will need to be receiving the allowance for the full length of your agreement.

Extra Financial Help
Motability’s charitable fund can help if you are unable to afford the advance payment on some lease vehicles, and in some instances towards driving lessons and adaptations to the vehicle. Grants can be made to help you meet your basic mobility needs. 

Special Requirements
If you have more severe disabilities and require a specially adapted vehicle, you may qualify for a grant from the Government’s Mobility Equipment or Drivers Funds which are administered by Motability.
